Trivia[]
- The Isle of the Alchemists is based on the Land of Toys, a place within the book where children are free to do whatever they want but turn into donkeys because of their misbehavior.
- The Land of Toys has gone by other names, such as Pleasure Island in Disney's adaptation, and Terra Magica (Magic Land) in the 1996's film.
- Arche is a reference to the twin sister of Iris, the Greek goddess of the rainbow and messenger of the queen of the Olympian gods, Hera. The two can be told apart by their wings: Iris has iridescent, rainbow-colored wings, while Arche was said to have golden wings. During the war with the Titans against the Olympians, Arche sided with the Titans and acted as their messenger. When they were defeated, Arche was punished by having her wings removed and given over to Iris.
