Polendina is a character in Lies of P. He is the personal puppet of Antonia and the receptionist of Hotel Krat.

He is a merchant who sells a variety of consumables. His inventory is expanded with the Krat Supply Box, Sturdy Krat Supply Box, and Special Krat Supply Box.

Background[]

Polendina was built by Giuseppe Geppetto to be the personal companion of Antonia Cerasani, the proprietor of the once-dreary asylum that had undergone a miraculous transformation into the renowned Hotel Krat. Over the next several decades, Polendina started to develop an Ego and with it, an intense and profound affection for Antonia. During Antonia's twilight years, however, she became afflicted with the Petrification Disease, a malady that had sadly swept through their city, encasing its victims in unyielding stone scales and dimming their vision. With her mobility severely compromised and her body betraying her, Polendina's role transitioned into that of a devoted, full-time caretaker for the ailing Antonia. Following the start of the Puppet Frenzy, Antonia used the hotel's security system to defending it against the marauding puppets that roamed the streets, effectively transforming the hotel into a sanctuary. Polendina continued to care for Antonia and the other survivors, including a new arrival Pinocchio.

As Antonia's health deteriorated, Polendina's inner turmoil could no longer be contained, for he had evolved far beyond his puppet origins. In the wake of P's triumphant victory over the King of Puppets, Polendina extended an invitation to P to meet in the hotel's garden. In a heartfelt confession, he revealed that his Ego had awakened, and he was deeply concerned about Antonia's ailing health. Polendina explained that, despite his profound affection for Antonia, he had harbored no intentions of revealing his feelings to her, understanding that it would be an unbearable burden on her already frail body. He regarded P as a unique intermediary as he existed somewhere between a human and a puppet. Polendina asked if P had ever encountered a puppet who had fallen in love with a human. Upon witnessing the Wedding Ring, obtained from the enigmatic Julian The Gentleman, Polendina was overcome with elation, seeing it as a symbol of the very love he felt. Polendina expressed his gratitude to P for lending an understanding ear, leaving the weight of his feelings unspoken but deeply felt, as he continued his noble and silent vigil over the woman he adored.

Gameplay[]

Polendina is found at the receptionist counter at Hotel Krat. He will sell a variety of consumables and upgrade materials. After defeating Romeo, King of Puppets, return to Polendina to find him gone with a note left on the counter. Read the Note Left At The Counter and go to the garden outside to find Polendina by the fountain. Speaking to him will reveal that his Ego has awakened and that he has feelings for Antonia. He will ask the player if they have ever seen a puppet fall in love with a human. If the player lied to Julian The Gentleman and kept the Wedding Ring, they can tell Polendina the truth and give him the ring. If not, they can lie to him. Showing Polendina the ring will reward the player with Humanity. Either answer will reward the player with Gemini's Iron Protection.

After defeating Champion Victor, return to the hotel and speak to Polendina. He will tell the player that Antonia's condition from the Petrification Disease is getting worse and that she needs a cure. Next, speak with Giangio who will create the cure in exchange for Gold Coin Fruit. However, Giangio will warn that it will not fix the organ damage caused by the disease. Afterwards, give it to Polendina and choose to have him administer the cure or not. If the cure is administered, Antonia will become much happier and will eventually pass away after Laxasia The Complete is defeated. A letter will be left on her wheelchair which, when read, rewards the player with the Memory Of Beach record. If the player told Polendina not to administer the cure, he will respect the decision though, Antonia's dialogue will become more bleak. Antonia will still die after Laxasia The Complete is defeated but she will not leave a letter behind. Either decision will cause Polendina to tell the player that he is relinquishing his Ego to become a normal puppet as the pain of Antonia's death is too much to bear. He will then become robotic in his responses but still allows the player to purchase items from him.

If the player received the Real Boy Ending, Polendina and the other survivors will be killed by Carlo. Polendina will then be rebuilt by Geppetto who will place the Ergos of each survivor into puppet bodies and make everyone subservient to Carlo. If the player received the other two endings, Polendina will remain the same as he was following Antonia's death.
