The Portrait of a Boy is a recollection in Lies of P.

Overview[]

The Portrait of a Boy is found in the Black Rabbit Brotherhood's hideout in the Malum District Town Hall, immediately after defeating the Eldest of The Black Rabbit Brotherhood. Upon entering the hideout, the portrait is found in a room to the left. Return to Hotel Krat and speak to Geppetto. At the end of the conversation, the portrait will be placed on the wall by the study's entry and the player will obtain the Clap gesture.

Throughout the remainder of the game, a wooden stick will grow from the portrait's nose as Pinocchio gains humanity through lying. After deciding Sophia's fate, the stick will be long enough to pick up, revealing it to be the secret weapon Golden Lie.

A portrait of an aristocratic boy. It pictures a beautiful boy with a peevish expression but delicate face.

Extremely vivid paintings are said to possess souls sometimes. D. Gray, the genius painter, denied all such conjectures. However, his death and the rumors about his paintings are still shrouded in a thick fog.

Trivia[]

  • The boy in the portrait is Carlo, and was painted prior to his untimely death.
  • The painter of the portrait is a man by the name of "D. Gray", a reference to the short story The Picture of Dorian Gray, the titular protagonist of which had placed his soul in his self-portrait to become immortal, and went mad as it drastically changed in accordance to his aging and the sins he committed.
