Puppets are a type of enemy featured in Lies of P.

History

In the city of Krat, the puppets were created by Geppetto who used them to lead the city into a golden age of invention and peace. The puppets were powered by Ergo, a powerful and crystal-like substance that also doubles as a currency during Pinocchio's journey. The puppets filled a variety of roles, including but not limited to maids, butlers, the police force, the military, construction machines, circus entertainment, and booth attendants. Everyone in Krat welcomed the mechanical marvels, and an exhibition was held to showcase the latest in puppet development. Then in 189x, a disaster known as the Puppet Frenzy took place. The once peaceful creations of Geppetto turned violent, brutally killing any human that crossed their path.

Trivia

• Similar to the Law of Robotics in the novel, I Robot by Isaac Asimov, the puppets were bound to a ruleset known as the Grand Covenant. This stated that puppets were to not harm humans, obey orders given to them, and to not be able to tell a lie. Geppetto was the only one who could override these rules, possibly causing the Frenzy.
• Puppets who have awakened Ergo might represent the marionettes whom Pinocchio met at Mangiafuoco's theatre, who were all sentient for being born in the same tree as the wooden boy.
