- "I miss... the whistle... I don't hear it anymore..."
— Scrapped Watchman
Scrapped Watchman is a mandatory boss in Lies of P. It is found in Krat City Hall Courtyard.
Description[]

The Scrapped Watchman was created by Lorenzini Venigni. Venigni's vision was ambitious. He sought to design a puppet that could not only serve as a mascot for Krat City Hall but also overpower criminals and maintain law and order. However, the Watchman's design was overzealous, resulting in an overcharged storage battery. This excess of power caused a series of chain explosions, malfunctions, and severe body damage. The City Council subsequently deemed the puppet to be a failure ordered Venigni to dispose of it, in part because its imposing appearance intimidated visitors. Venigni refused and left the puppet abandoned in front of City Hall. He and the taxpayers then filed suit to stop the puppet's removal.
Amidst its abandonment and the inability to fulfill its intended role as a police officer, the puppet found an unexpected calling. Local children from the slums, endearingly naming the puppet "Murphy," discovered the Watchman. In the eyes of these children, Murphy wasn't a discarded failure but a newfound friend and protector. Murphy embraced his role as a friend to the children, cherishing their company and playful activities. To the children, he wasn't an intimidating figure but a source of joy and comfort. They blew an old whistle during their games and lovingly decorated Murphy's body. In a touching gesture of affection, they even crafted a wooden puppet doll in Murphy's likeness and presented it to him. However, as the children's bond with Murphy grew, City Hall began to take notice of the gatherings outside the building. The sheer number of children and the inconvenience it caused visitors prompted City Hall to consider displaying Murphy periodically as a means to limit entry and advance their legal cause.
In the midst of these developments, the Petrification Disease became widespread throughout Krat, particularly in the slums. Tragically, children like Toma gradually stopped showing up to play with Murphy as they fell victim to the disease. Those who could still come to visit found themselves barred by City Hall, who feared the potential spread of the illness.

Isolated and unable to reunite with his friends, Murphy's feelings of resentment grew. He couldn't help but hold the adults responsible for his inability to see his friends, yearning to bring them to justice. Yet, he remained bound by the Grand Covenant and unable to act on these feelings. However, a turning point arrived with the onset of the Puppet Frenzy. Unshackled from the constraints of the Grand Covenant, Murphy took it upon himself to pass judgment on all those within City Hall, finding them all guilty of abandoning the children.
Murphy continued his vigil, standing as a solitary sentinel before City Hall until the arrival of Pinocchio. In the ensuing confrontation, Murphy conveyed his profound sorrow for his lost friends and continued to hold the adults accountable for their abandonment. P ultimately managed to put an end to Murphy, allowing the puppet to join his friends once again.
