The Atoned is an optional mini-boss in Lies of P. She is located in front of the Cable Railway at the end of Moonlight Town.
Background[]
The Atoned was a Stalker who took great pride in protecting the people of Krat. During the outbreak of the Puppet Frenzy, she attempted to aid survivors by bringing them to the St. Frangelico Cathedral. Upon realizing that she had actually sent them to their doom, as the cathedral was overrun with Carcasses, she was overcome with extreme guilt, blaming herself for what had happened, and chose to spend the remainder of her life attempting to redeem herself.
Gameplay[]
Upon speaking with her, she will ask the player if they are a Stalker. The player can either Do Nothing (Truth) or if they obtained the Stalker's Promise gesture from the Survivor, Give the Stalker's greeting (Lie). If the player tells the truth then she will become hostile and must be defeated to proceed. If they lie by using the gesture then she will she will give the Cable Railway Key and move aside.
If the player performs a Legion Arm ability after the lie, she will recognize them as a puppet and begin the encounter. Alternatively, if the player returns to her after taking the cable car up to the St. Frangelico Cathedral, she will become hostile, chastising herself for being tricked by a Puppet.
Trivia[]
- She is partially based on Melampo, a dog within the book who guarded a Farmer's chickens from thieving Weasels, which Pinocchio takes the place of after being made to by the Farmer.
- Both the Atoned and Melampo failed to protect the people they were supposed to be guarding; in The Atoned's case she feels guilt, in Melampo's, he was bribed by the Weasels and later died.
- She wields the Exploding Pickaxe.
- She is voiced by Sian Thomas.
